Sacred Valley of the Incas

Embark on a captivating journey through the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, traveling along a scenic route that showcases Chinchero—a picturesque village where the timeless traditions and cultural essence of the past remain vibrantly alive. To provide a more peaceful experience, this route is often featured on our shared tours, avoiding the busier Pisaq area (though Pisaq can be included in a customized itinerary). Your Sacred Valley tour also includes a tasty buffet lunch as you enjoy the stunning scenery.

The day begins in the delightful town of Chinchero, home to a prominent Inca archaeological site dating back to the late 1400s, along with a beautifully preserved colonial church. You’ll also explore the renowned “Urpi” textile center, where skilled artisans keep the ancient Andean art of spinning and weaving alive. Here, you’ll be treated to sweeping panoramic views of the Sacred Valley, a perfect moment to pause and appreciate the natural splendor. Known for its striking agricultural terraces, or “Andenes,” this site served as both a fortress and a spiritual sanctuary. Ollantaytambo also holds historical significance as one of the few places where the Spanish conquistadors faced defeat in battle.

Our final stop is the living Inca town of Ollantaytambo, a remarkable example of ancient city planning that has remained continuously inhabited since the 13th century. Its narrow cobblestone streets and well-preserved structures offer an authentic glimpse into the daily life of the Inca civilization. At the conclusion of the tour, we’ll drop you off at your chosen Sacred Valley hotel, where you can relax and reflect on an unforgettable day of exploration.
