DAY ONE

Arrive in Cusco

Step into the vibrant, timeless world of Cusco. After a private transfer from Cusco airport to your chosen hotel, you will enjoy a light lunch before embarking on a city tour. This charming half-day tour beautifully blends the city’s rich Incan heritage with its Spanish colonial past. As you wander through the Imperial City, you’ll witness the fascinating fusion of ancient traditions and modern life, where Andean culture and Spanish influence coexist in perfect harmony.

To truly grasp the majesty of the Inca civilization, we’ll visit the impressive Sacsayhuamán Fortress, a remarkable example of their advanced military architecture. From there, we’ll head to the Kenko Archaeological Center, a sacred site where ancient ceremonies honoring the Sun, Moon, and stars were performed. No tour of Cusco would be complete without a visit to its iconic cathedral, the city’s most significant religious site. Built atop the palace of the Inca Huiracocha, the cathedral’s interior is a treasure trove of colonial art, featuring exquisite goldsmith works and paintings from the renowned Cusco School of Art.

DAY TWO

Sacred Valley Tour

Embark on an unforgettable adventure with a tour that takes you through the heart of the Sacred Valley, featuring a scenic route that includes Chinchero—an ancient village where the rich traditions and original charm of the past are still alive today. To ensure a more tranquil experience, we often use this route on our shared tours, bypassing the crowds at Pisaq (though Pisaq can be included on a different itinerary). Plus, your Sacred Valley tour includes a delicious buffet lunch, perfect for recharging as you take in the breathtaking sights.

Your day begins in the picturesque town of Chinchero, home to an important Inca archaeological site, built in the late 1400s, along with a stunningly preserved colonial church. You’ll also visit the “Urpi” textile center, where local artisans continue the age-old Andean techniques of spinning and weaving. Get a firsthand look at how they create vivid, natural dyes, bringing vibrant colors to their beautiful fabrics.

Next, we’ll head toward Ollantaytambo, but not before stopping at Racchi Lookout, where you’ll be treated to some of the most spectacular panoramic views of the Sacred Valley. After taking in the scenery, we’ll enjoy a hearty lunch at a local restaurant, giving you time to relax and reflect on the journey so far.

Then, we’ll explore Ollantaytambo, one of the most monumental archaeological complexes of the Inca Empire. Famous for its impressive agricultural terraces, known as “Andenes,” Ollantaytambo was both a fortress and a spiritual site, and it holds the distinction of being one of the few places where the Spanish conquistadors were defeated in battle.

Our final stop takes us to the living Inca town of Ollantaytambo, a well-preserved example of ancient Inca city planning. With its narrow cobblestone streets and well-maintained buildings, this unique town has been continuously inhabited since the 13th century, offering an authentic glimpse into the past. At the end of the tour, we’ll drop you off at your chosen Sacred Valley hotel, where you can unwind and reflect on an incredible day of discovery.

Upon arriving in Aguas Calientes, we’ll take a short bus ride up to the entrance of Machu Picchu, where you’ll stand before one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, a sight that will take your breath away. Here, we’ll embark on a guided exploration of the ancient ruins, uncovering the fascinating history and intriguing mysteries that this mystical site holds. Surrounded by jaw-dropping landscapes, you’ll have endless opportunities to capture stunning photos of this awe-inspiring destination.

Prepare yourself for a day of discovery, beauty, and adventure as you experience Machu Picchu in all its glory. We believe this stunning site is best enjoyed over two days, so after returning to Aguas Calientes for the night, we recommend setting off early the next day to revisit.

Our journey starts with a drive across the mesmerizing Uyuni Salt Flats, the world’s largest salt desert. DAY TEN

High Desert, Lakes & Lagoons

Today, we venture deep into the high desert, embarking on a journey through some of the most striking and remote landscapes of the Altiplano. The route offers an ever-changing panorama of rugged terrain, volcanic peaks, and serene high-altitude lakes. Along the way, we’ll make frequent stops at points of interest to fully immerse ourselves in the region’s natural beauty. Be prepared to encounter wildlife such as graceful flamingos wading in lagoons, as well as hardy desert mammals.

Before leaving the Uyuni area, we’ll visit the hauntingly atmospheric “Train Cemetery.” This surreal site is home to the rusting remains of steam locomotives and railcars, originally imported from the UK with the hope of expanding Bolivia’s railway network. Those plans never materialized, and today these relics stand as poignant reminders of a bygone era. The stark contrast between the decaying machinery and the surrounding desert makes this a photographer’s dream and an unmissable stop.

As we continue, the day unfolds with a series of incredible highlights. Among them is the Hedionda Lagoon, a stunning body of water that attracts vibrant flocks of flamingos, whose reflections create mesmerizing scenes. The unusual San Cristobal Church, relocated stone by stone during a mining project, stands as a testament to Bolivia’s cultural and architectural heritage.

The road is flanked by majestic volcanoes and dramatic mountain landscapes, each view seemingly more impressive than the last. Every turn offers a new photo opportunity and a deeper connection to the raw beauty of this region. As the sun dips lower in the sky, we’ll arrive at tonight’s accommodation: the Tayka del Desierto hotel. Perched in complete isolation near the Chilean border, this charming retreat offers a warm and cozy haven amid the vast expanse of the desert.

Today, we journey even deeper into the breathtaking high-altitude wilderness of the Bolivian Altiplano. Setting out from your hotel, we traverse the stark yet stunning landscapes, making our way to one of the region’s most iconic natural wonders—the “Rock Tree.” This unique stone formation, sculpted by the wind into the shape of a tree, is a must-see and perfect for an unforgettable photo. Along the way, you’ll also encounter other fascinating rock formations, each a masterpiece of nature.

Our next stop is the dazzling Laguna Colorada, a multicolored salt lake that captivates with its vivid red hues, white mineral deposits, and flocks of pink flamingos that grace its shores. From there, we head to the surreal Sol de Mañana geothermal field, where you’ll witness the otherworldly sight of steam vents and bubbling mud pools — a stark reminder of the earth’s raw power.

Continuing our adventure, we arrive at the natural hot springs of Polques, a perfect spot to relax and rejuvenate. With changing facilities available, you can enjoy a soothing dip in the warm waters while taking in the incredible desert views. Once refreshed, we journey through the surreal landscapes of the Dali Desert, with its barren beauty and dreamlike scenery, before reaching the striking Laguna Verde.
